The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51M viewers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s epic game secured 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match series drew 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
